Gould
Trailwalker Team 2012 -100Kms in 25 Hours.
A team of four from Gould Electronics (company secretary Marie Gould, receptionist
Cynthia Skewes, engineer Ewan McDermott and engineer’s wife Lizzie Heath)
have signed up for Oxfam’s Trailwalker 2012. The aim is to complete the
100km Trailwalker route across the South Downs in less than 30 hours
(the route’s distance and elevation is apparently equivalent to two and
a half marathons and climbing Ben Nevis and Snowdon!) and the money raised
is to be split equally between Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust. You
will find much more information at Mariegould.com .
Gould Electronics now provide simple traditional
wireless broadband routers right through to fully managed systems
that allow more control of internet traffic and guest access
levels. System settings and optional pay-per-use services can
easily be changed and managed via a web browser.
Whether you want to provide WiFi over a shopping centre, campsite, caravan park, marina or hotel or just provide WiFi HotSpot services at a small venue such as a pub or restaurant then we can help. We also provide point to point broadband links for remote locations such as farms.

The
fundraising afternoon tea at Camborne Parish Church hall on the
10th of March was a huge success. Lots of people turned up to
show their support and a total of £282 was raised. Team Gould
Electronics would like to thank all those who attended and everyone
who contributed by baking, serving customers, transporting people
and cakes etc. A special thanks to Camborne Parish Church for
the use of their hall, Hesketh Press for printing flyers and
Sharkfin Media for the last minute printing of posters for a
sandwich board.
Training is now in full swing with weekly group walks and regular individual training sessions. Team Leader Marie Gould calculated that in February she walked a total of 125.5 miles in training (272,930 steps) and the group aim to gradually increase the distance they walk each week. Walking injuries so far have included blisters, knee strain and bruised toe nails and sunburn was added to the list on the latest walk from Helston to the Lizard Point.
Pre
Christmas weather featuring the strongest gust of wind ever
recorded in Britain.
These record breaking gusts just happened to be at the location of one
of our SCOT-TEL-GOULD radio
sites on Morrone at 859m in the Grampian region of Scotland. Despite
the severe weather our network continued to provide the local authorities
with valuable communications. Our thanks go out to our support teams
who battled the inclement conditions to keep the sites up and running..
An anemometer stationed close to the
summit of the Mountain registered a wind speed of 194mph on
December 19th, only 37mph short of the world's most powerful
gust on Mount Washington in New Hampshire in 1934."

New Year – New Radio
Gould
Electronics adds the Kenwood TK 2000/3000
Compact VHF and UHF FM Portable Radios to their Portfolio of Two Way
Radios
Gould Electronics has marked the start of an exciting new year with the addition of the just-released Kenwood TK 2000/3000 to their carefully selected range of two way radios.
Its long list of features is impressive, starting with its size and weight. It is super light; weighing in at only 203g with the Li-ion battery and so slim that it fits in a pocket easily. Its ease of handling and usage combined with robust reliability makes it a discerning choice for both leisure and business users. It is as perfect for inventory control and service industry operations as it is for fell walkers, farmers and events crews because it meets the famously stringent requirements of MIL – STD – 810 C-G (Environmental Standards) and IP54 (Dust and Water Intrusion Standards). It has been built to survive hard knocks, drops and all-weather environments.
The Kenwood TK 2000/3000 is ready for use immediately after purchase and come with battery, rapid battery charger, antenna, belt clip and a manual (available in nine languages) as standard. Some of its many additional features include free Windows© programming and tuning software, VOX ready and a total of 16 channels each of which can be assigned a QT and DQT tone key to eliminate unwanted signals.
Its very competitive price (£129.00) and wide range of accessories makes it a very appealing choice for the first-time radio user, budget-conscious bulk purchasers and experienced users who have been waiting for the perfect union of ruggedness and stylish design.

Gould Electronics have just introduced a new brand of two way radio to their portfolio. Mitex radios are compact and powerful handheld radios that are suitable for business, lifestyle and leisure applications. Their USP is that they are extremely durable, manufactured to the highest of standards yet also ‘straight from the box’ and therefore offer a fast and simple solution to many communication requirements.
They provide an excellent quality of communication even in the harshest conditions. They are programmed back to back through each model range for quick and easy use. Gould Electronics recommends the Mitex Site UHF two way radio for the construction industry, the Mitex Sports VHF two way radio for the sports and leisure industries, the Mitex Security UHF two way radio for the security industries and the General UHF two way radio for most business, lifestyle and leisure applications. Mitex radios cannot be programmed to work with existing radio systems so they are ideally suited to any business or individual who wants to set up a new two way radio communication system. Mitex radios are licensed but provide ten times more output power that license-free alternatives. Every box comes with a battery pack (the General radio comes with two), an intelligent charging pod (the Sports and Site radios also come with a PSU), Instruction Books and License Forms. There is also a very wide range of accessories available for the Mitex range. For further details please call Gould Electronics Two Way Radio Ltd on 01209 821804.
In August 2011 Gould Electronics announced its intention to work towards achieving ISO 9001 accreditation. ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for business quality management systems. James Cannicott was appointed to manage this project, which was envisaged to take up to a year to complete successfully. When we made our announcement we agreed to provide news updates of our progress and this is our first! James reports that we have achieved a significant amount of progress. All of our core procedures have been documented and are now ready to be reviewed, revised, updated and implemented. This has been achieved through the deployment of a wiki, which enables ease of access for all employees of the company, who can edit any of the procedures they take part in or are responsible for and update them to reflect the most current situation. This is a truly collaborative process, which enables everyone to appreciate the part they play in the company and especially in working towards raising standards for customer care. ‘The key task at the moment,’ James says, ‘is for everyone to really scrutinise their own practices and look for where these can be improved. Demonstrating that we have been willing and able to analyse and improve what we do – and document that improvement with evidence - is what will enable us to achieve accreditation.’ We are looking forward to reaching the stage where we can apply for a first external audit. Watch this space!
